Chaplain (CPT, Retired) Lisa Y. Williamson has over 34 years of combined honorable military service with the United States Navy Active Duty Enlisted, United States Naval Reserve Enlisted, United States Army Reserve Enlisted, United States Army Active Duty Enlisted, the Louisiana Army National Guard Officer, Georgia Army National Guard Officer, and the United States Army Active Duty Officer, retired.
Williamson is a graduate of the Interdenominational Theological Seminary, Morehouse School of Religion, in Atlanta, GA, with a Masters of Divinity. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Touro University International. She completed the Clinical Pastoral Education Course (7R) at the San Antonio Military Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, TX. Chaplain Williamson has completed 68 hours towards earning a Doctorate Degree in Education and Leadership (Ed.D.) with the University of Phoenix. She is ABD and is currently writing her dissertation.
She served as Deputy Chief Chaplain Clinician, Department of Ministry and Pastoral Care, Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC, and has served as the first woman to pastor the Wood Memorial Chapel Gospel Congregation, Fort Bragg, NC. Chaplain Williamson deployed in 2011 with the 53rd Transportation Battalion, Movement Control, Fort Eustis, VA, in support of Operation New Dawn.
Her military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Three Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, the Iraq Campaign Medal with Silver Star, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, the Korean Defense Service Ribbon, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon Numeral 2, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Over Seas Service Ribbon.
She is an ordained member of the Christian Church, endorsed as a chaplain by the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and a member of the American Academy of Religion. She was inducted into the Phi Lambda Theta Honor Society. As an honor society, Pi Lambda Theta's purpose is to recognize persons of superior scholastic achievement and high potential for professional leadership. As a professional society, its purpose is to stimulate independent-thinking educators who can ask critical questions to improve educational decisions.
Chaplain Williamson has been married to Tyrone Williamson Sr. for 30 years. They have three adult children: Jeremiah, Cammie, and Tyrone Jr. They are the proud grandparents of four: Karasi, Micah, Jacob, and Jabez.
